It’s not all about the ‘beer’ at Beer Breakfast…. saddle up to the bar at the Mandarin Hide and ask the barkeep for one of our infamous ‘Grand Slams – the Pancake Shot’. 

Now close your eyes, down the first portion, then down the OJ chaser and experience the Grand Slam of breakfast warmth and goodness. No, you’re not at Denny’s my friend, you’re at Beer Breakfast!!

If you didn’t have a “Stack” of these at last year’s Beer Breakfast then you must not have stayed very long.  Jameson Whiskey, Butterscotch Schnapps, OJ. Oh Momma!!

As we get closer to our next Beer Breakfast Event on Saturday, March 29, 2014 in support of Tampa Bay Watch, let’s take a moment to reflect on our favorite frothy beverage and its pretty amazing origins!

Humans and yeast have been working together for millennia to create tasty brews. As early as the sixth millennium B.C., ancient Sumerians had discovered the art of fermentation. By the 19th century B.C., they were inscribing beer recipes into tablets in the form of a Hymn to Ninkasi, their female deity of beer (that’s right, chicks DIG beer guys!!).

Other cultures around the world developed beer independently, but the job of brewing often went to women. Tenenit, the Egyptian deity of beer, was female, as was the Zulu beer goddess Mbaba Mwana Waresa. A 2005 study found that among the Wari people of ancient Peru, elite women brewed the beer. Centuries later, women dominated the European brewing scene, according to a 1993 article in Yankee Brew News by late beer anthropologist Alan Eames. According to Eames, it wasn’t until the late 1700s that beer became a male-dominated drink.

So there you have it, we need to be thankful for the beer AND the ladies in our lives when we raise a pint in Revelry~Fellowship~Sanctuary at the Mandarin Hide for Beer Breakfast!

Here’s an interesting Monday morning dilemma…. Coffee or Beer, which one makes you

smarter and more creative? Well, at a Beer Breakfast Event you get BOTH, so who cares, right? But I digress. The blog post from Mr. Cho is actually pretty interesting so I thought I’d share it with by beer breakfast brethren. Have we single handedly created the greatest event in the history of the world to bring out the best in brain power and creativity? Me thinks so!!

60 days or so and counting until the next Beer Breakfast Event in support of Tampa Bay Watch being held at the Mandarin Hide on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 9am. Come one, come all and help us raise awareness and funding to keep the estuaries of Tampa Bay clean and healthy!! A Beer Breakfast is…. Revelry~Fellowship~Sanctuary.

Have you ever gazed across the Bay? Boated, sailed, caught a fish or two in Tampa Bay? I’ve been doing all of this and more for 20 years! And each time I venture out and enjoy the beautiful water I give special thanks for Tampa Bay Watch and all of their staff and supporters for helping to keep this amazing estuary so beautiful and bountiful. We need your support!!

In less than 90 days we’ll be hearing the roar of the engines and gathering together in the Revelry~Fellowship~Sanctuary known as Beer Breakfast!!

From our new pal, Tim Ramsberger (St. Pete GP event president), “Ten years of exciting auto racing and exhilarating race weekends is worth celebrating,” The event just keeps getting better and better. The support we’ve received from the community (I think this is a direct reference to Beer Breakfast attendees and supporters!!) is tremendous and has allowed us to grow year after year. We look forward to writing a new page in this event’s history and welcoming race fans from around the world to mark this milestone and showcase the best in racing for another year.”

So get ready to join us on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 9am at the Mandarin Hide for our annual Beer Breakfast event in support of Tampa Bay Watch!!

Wherever you are and whatever you are doing RIGHT NOW…. mark your calendars, hide the children and start making plans to attend the next Beer Breakfast on Saturday, March  29, 2014 where we will once again lift our glasses, fill our bellies and enjoy each others company for the….. Revelry~Fellowship~Sanctuary that is BEER BREAKFAST!!

Please join us on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 9am to 2pm at The Mandarin Hide in D’town St. Pete and lend your support to Tampa Bay Watch, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit stewardship program dedicated exclusively to the protection and restoration of the marine and wetland environments of the Tampa Bay estuary through scientific and educational programs.

Drink lots of water and get ready for the NEXT Beer Breakfast Event! 

When will it be? Where will it be? What will it be? I have no idea, but maybe you do! Help us figure out the next Beer Breakfast Event and the bestest idea gets the gig! We are ‘Merriment with a Mission’ with thousands of dollars in proceeds having supported such august programs as Florida West Ballet, Suncoast Hospice, Children’s Dream Fund and the families of our fallen St. Pete officers through the local PBA.

It struck me at our most recent event at the Mandarin Hide what the basic essence of a Beer Breakfast gathering truly is…. you know that at a Beer Breakfast you can walk up and introduce yourself to a complete stranger and know…. this person is cool! Not Fonzy cool, but deep down, life engaging, life enjoying…. cool. The conversations, the new friends made and lost friends found, the joy of living life to the fullest. And not apologizing for it!

I thank each and every one of you for your friendship, support and most of all…. love. Let’s all strive to have fun and be good while doing it. We are…. Revelry~Fellowship~Sanctuary!
